In 2014, OpenSpace Lab was launched in order to collaborate with multi-disciplined architects, designers and economist and to carry out major strategic urban and architectural projects in the urban areas of Seoul, Changwon, and Busan in Korea.
Inspired by the concept of participation with urban users and direct engagement into the city as a key tool to change urban spaces with creative energy, the lab has become an hybrid urban creators, collaborative architects, and participatory designers.
2014년에 설립된 오픈스페이스 연구실은 경남대학교 건축학부 도시/건축 연구실로서 다양하고 창의적인 건축가, 도시계획가, 디자이너, 사회 및 경제전문가들과 함께 도시현안을 연구하며 서울과 경남지역의 도시재생 전략계획, 활성화계획, 워터프론트계획, 근대건축경관 특화계획 수립 등 다양한 활동을 하고 있다.
경남대학교 OpenSpace Lab은 도시의 다양한 사용자들의 참여를 가운데 놓고 쇠퇴한 건축물과 공간을 활성화기키는 Placemaking을 실현하며 끊임없이 변하는 도시환경에 적용될 수 있는 창의적 변화를 연구하고 현장에 실현시키고 있다.
